To commemorate the 50th anniversary of John Newton Cooper’s achievements, we are pleased to introduce the MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50. This special edition model will be built in strictly limited numbers, with 250 cars available in Europe, only 100 of which will make it to the UK.
Benham Wolverhampton are very excited to announce we have secured one of these extremely limited edition models - “Number 23”.
John Newton Cooper, born in Kingston, England in 1923, is a racing legend. With his technical innovations, ideas and above all, his passion, he shaped motorsport to a unique degree. Initially, he drove the cars he built himself, but later he dedicated himself entirely to car development – bringing the attitude and insight of a racer to every aspect of his work.
By the mid-1960s, John Cooper could look back on 16 Formula 1 victories in just nine years, with drivers such as Stirling Moss and Jack Brabham leading the team to two consecutive world championships (1959 and 1960).
